FISHING The WHITEBRIDGE LOCHS are a famous group of hill lochs scattered among the hills to the south of Loch Ness. The larger of the lochs, most of which have boats (no outboard motors are allowed since many of the lochs are also the source of water supply to estates), provides excellent fishing in wonderful yet very accessible remoteness. Most lochs are only metres from a road, a fact that has a lot to do with the popularity of the area, particularly from mid May through June and July when trout fishing is at its best. Many of the lochs are on private estates and boats can be arranged at reception. £25.00 per day, £14.00 per half day or evening. Fishing tackle is available for hire and casts and flys are on sale in the Hotel. LOCH KNOCKIE is one of the better lochs, and with the right conditions it will produce a mixed basket of fish from 10ozs to 1lb. Fly Only LOCH BRAN along with Brown Trout is reputed to hold Arctic Char and Ferox. No exceptional catches but a good days sport is rewarded with hard fighting native brownies. Fly Only LOCH NAN LANN a great beginners loch with an abundance of smaller fish in the surface layer on which to practice fly casting with always the possibility of hooking a Ferox or Char. Fly Only LOCH KILLIN a deep loch with plenty of smaller brownies near the
surface and Ferox deeper down being taken mostly by spinning which is permitted.
A good loch to take a newcomer to fly fish or spin since there are always good
catches of free taking trout. A Ghillie is available by prior arrangement Fly Rods and tackle are available for sale/hire from the Hotel Rod and Reel £15.00 per day. Casts and flies are available for sale It is advisable to book early during May/June
